The Head Football Coach position is a vital and significant role within the organization, requiring a dedicated individual with a deep passion for football, strong leadership qualities, and effective collaboration skills. As the head of the football program, the Head Football Coach shapes the success and development of the organization’s football teams. Moreover, they serve as a representative of the organization, fostering positive relationships within the local community and with other organizations and league. The Head Football Coach’s contributions are indispensable in shaping the success, development, and positive experience of both the football program and its participants.
The Head Football Coach position is a 1-year term that requires a dedicated individual to oversee all football operations within the organization. This is a voting position, and the Head Football will work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the success of the football program.
Requirements
The position requires the following:
- CPR Certification
- Federal Background Clearance
- MBYFL Coaches Clinic
- USA Football Certification
*All certifications must be obtained at the beginning of the season, and the associated costs are the responsibility of the individual.
Qualifications
The position requires the following qualifications:
• Minimum of four years experience of football coaching experience, preferably as Head Coach
• Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate the team, set a clear vision, and provide guidance and direction
• Excellent communication skills to convey instructions, provide feedback, and build rapport with players and staff
• In-depth knowledge of football strategies, tactics, and techniques for player development and team improvement
• Commitment to holistic player growth, fostering a positive team culture and individual improvement
• Setting high standards, enforcing team rules, and promoting a culture of responsibility
• Skill in motivating players, fostering a competitive mindset, and maintaining team morale
• Effective management of practices, schedules, logistics, and administrative tasks
• Demonstrating and promoting sportsmanship and ethical behavior on and off the field
Responsibilities of the Head Football Coach:
1. Attending board meetings: The Head Football must be present at all board meetings to contribute on decisions, provide updates, discuss football-related matters, and collaborate with other board members.
2. Attending organizational events: The Head Football is required to be present at all organizational events, including football games, cheer competitions, parent events, and other related activities, from start to finish.
3. Overseeing football operations: The Head Football will have the primary responsibility of overseeing all football operations within the organization. This includes coordinating practices, game schedules, and other football-related activities.
4. Providing instruction and guidance: The Head Football will instruct and educate coaches and football participants on the rules, regulations, and expectations of the organization. They will ensure that all coaches and participants are aware of and adhere to these guidelines.
5. Conducting interviews and evaluations: The Head Football will conduct interviews and evaluations of head coaches and assistant coaches. They will assess their qualifications, experience, and suitability for their respective roles within the organization.
6. Supervising and directing coaches and participants: The Head Football will supervise and provide direction to all football head coaches, assistant coaches, and football participants. They will ensure that practices and games are conducted in a safe and organized manner.
7. Conducting parent meetings: The Head Football will be responsible for conducting parent meetings to communicate important information, address concerns, and foster a positive relationship between parents and the organization.
8. Collaborating with President and Player Agent: The Head Football will work closely with the President and Player Agent to oversee football roster binders and certification, ensuring compliance with league requirements.
9. Coordinating uniform and gear ordering: The Head Football will ensure timely ordering of all football uniforms and season gear necessary for organizational activities throughout the season.
10. Implementing programmatic instruction: The Head Football is responsible for implementing programmatic instruction, focusing on sequential fundamentals, proper conditioning, and technique for all football levels.
11. Demonstrating leadership qualities: The Head Football should possess strong leadership skills, effective communication abilities, fairness, and high integrity to set a positive example for coaches, participants, and parents.
12. Evaluating football participants: The Head Football will lead efforts in evaluating all football participants throughout the entire season, assessing their progress, and providing feedback for improvement.
