COMMITTEE CHAIR • 1-YEAR TERM • NON-VOTING POSITION
The Weigh Master holds a vital and indispensable role in promoting fair play and upholding compliance within the organization and Monterey Bay Youth Football League. These responsibilities revolve around accurately weighing players, maintaining effective communication with other teams during weigh-ins, and ensuring the integrity of weight regulations set forth by the league.
The position requires a skilled individual to join our team as a Weigh Master on a 1-year term basis. The Weigh Master will serve as a Committee Chair in a non-voting capacity.
Requirements
The position requires the following:
- CPR Certification
- Federal Background Clearance
*All certifications must be obtained at the beginning of the season, and the associated costs are the responsibility of the individual.
Qualifications
The position requires the following qualifications:
• Ability to remain impartial and fair when conducting weigh-ins, treating all participants equally and following established rules and regulations
• Understanding the importance of maintaining confidentiality and privacy of participants’ weight information
• Ability to adapt to different situations and schedules, as weigh-ins may occur before or after practices, games, requiring flexibility and availability
• Possessing patience and empathy
• Commitment to upholding the values and integrity of the Alvarez Titans Organization
Responsibilities of the Weigh Master:
1. Attend Board Meetings: Attending all open session Board Meetings to provide updates, insights, and stay informed about organizational matters.
2. Conduct Weigh-Ins: Weighing all away teams during every game of the season, at every level, to ensure compliance with weight classes and regulations.
3. On-Site Presence: Being present at all football games, including contests and parent events, from start to finish, to oversee the weigh-in process.
4. Effective Communication: Possessing communication skills to ensure all players meet the weight requirement and understanding the need to notify the opposing team of an overweight player during game day weigh-ins.
5. Professionalism and Positive Energy: Demonstrating a positive energy and professionalism when communicating with other organizations during weigh-ins, fostering a respectful and cooperative atmosphere.
6. Collaboration with Head Coaches: Working closely with Head Football Coaches to communicate weight expectations and the potential risks associated with excessive weight, ensuring coaches are well-informed.
7. Availability for Maximum Weight Participants: Being available to weigh football participants who are near the maximum weight limit, as needed, to monitor their weight and ensure compliance with league regulations.
8. Certification of Organizational Scale: Ensuring that the organizational scale used for weigh-ins is certified by a third-party company, maintaining accuracy and reliability.
